'Winter'
Winter is one of the main four seasons in temperate and polar regions.
As all other seasons, winter is caused by a tilt of the earth's axis relative to the sun.
In the Northern Hemisphere the winter season lasts from 21 December until 2O March. In the Southern Hemisphere this corresponds to the period between 21 June and 20 September.
The winter season is marked by short days and low temperatures.
