How do you create a crossword puzzle?

1. Give your puzzle a title and theme — Enter a fitting title — for example "Sea animals", "Verbs unit 3", "Easter" or "Football". Optionally add a subtitle with the class, date or a short instruction.
2. Add words and clues (manual or AI) — Type your own words with clues, or give the AI generator a theme and let it fill in the word list and clues automatically. Every suggestion can still be edited before generating the puzzle.
3. Choose word count and difficulty — Set the number of words (5 to 15) and the difficulty (easy, medium or hard) to match your audience. Short words for younger learners, longer or subject-specific terms for older classes or adults.
4. Generate the crossword with answer key — Click Submit. The generator automatically places your words in a valid crossword grid with numbered clues for across and down, and creates an answer key. If your words have too few overlapping letters to cross, you'll get a notice so you can adjust.
5. Download as PDF, print as worksheet or share via link — Download the crossword as PDF or JPG (including answer key), print it directly as a worksheet, or share the unique puzzle link so others can solve it online. No account needed.

Common topics include seasons, animals, plants, professions, the human body, geography, history, traffic rules or science vocabulary.
